Attending to the specific materialities, properties, and practices of data across various settings, papers will show what ethnography brings to, and takes from, its encounters with data spaces. How do ethnographers follow what constitutes the ethnographic materials of these kinds of studies? If part of the anthropological project is making the familiar strange, how can familiar concepts be made to do generative work in new data settings, and how can we borrow concepts and practices from within the data worlds in which our studies take place?
