Current/ Countercurrent

This panel centers on the ways in which data does political work. On the one hand, the ease with which data is made obvious, neutral, and apolitical, is countered by bringing the normative functions and effects of data practices into view. On the other hand, data as a site of contested meaning and valuing means that data practices become a space for subversive and alternative political configurations to arise.
